Educate, Inform and Impact in a fun and effortless way.

Education

The right technology can transform your classroom from boring to totally awesome and make learning fun and engaging. We attended a teacher training session, and we started with a scenario. We were placed in a group of four to work on a task using the same method colourfully displayed on the projector board. We hadn’t started the lecture properly; however, we already got the idea of what was about to be taught. The activities and the bright colours were inspiring; the points awarded for every correct answer supplied made it engaging and fun. This is how technology is transforming learning in the 21st century. The idea of doing this in the first place is to expose the teachers to the fact that their everyday job as a teacher can be a lot easier with the right technology in the classroom. Finding creative ways to use technology in the school can make your life easier as a teacher and boost student excitement levels and engagement with lessons. Are you looking for a creative way as a teacher to use technology to turn your classroom around, create unboring lectures and boost student excitement levels and engagement? Here are six ways technology is saying yes to you.

Learning Games

Children love playing games, and they love competitions. Using quizzes is one of the best ways to transform a boring class with super active and engaged students. You can set up your own quiz using Kahoot, Quizz, or pre-set quizzes and games with 9ijakids. Imagine starting a Science class with a quiz (boys vs girls), the kids will be excited, and their energy level is up.

Videos

Visuals are the best ways to bring your lessons to life. Imagine talking about the digestive system and you can show a video that shows how food is going through the digestive system –that will surely keep the kids glued to the lesson or imagine a geography lesson where you have a 3D tour that shows the earth, the continents and the oceans. This will bring the lesson to life. Youtube is a fantastic resource for looking for awesome videos for your lesson.

Creating Digital Content

Let the kids create, they love to, and it’s the best way to encourage them to become digital creators against just digital consumers. There are tons of tools that can help kids express their creativity in the classroom. A very good example is Canva, and it can help your pupils design digital contents and make ebooks. Powtoons can also help kids make animated videos and unleash their creativity.

Digital Field Trips

Imagine being in the classroom and exploring the world, having a full view of the Statue of Liberty, Olumo rock and some other historical sites while learning about location. Technology tools like Google Streetview offer you the ample opportunity to not just talk about it but also show it to the kids by taking them around the world.

Integrate Social Media

Many teachers across the world now have personal social media pages where they document their class activities, network with other teachers, build community and share ideas. A quick search on #Teachersofinstagram will present you with a myriad of posts from teachers. You, too, can create an Instagram account and or Facebook group for your class, make videos of teaching sessions, class participation and share field trips or extracurricular activities. Have your students do a talk on a specific topic and post the video online with relevant hashtags.

Computer-Based Testing/Assessment

Technology makes assessment less burdensome with the use of Computer-Based Testing. CBT helps kids become independent in solving questions, making recording and grading a lot easier, and helping kids become computer literate. Results are a lot easier to collate and send to parents. Google Classroom is an example of such a tool.
