Just on one of those days that you are out of ideas on how to engage your kids, balloons will never disappoint. I think balloons are one of the underrated fun elements that can be used to engage kids, especially during birthday parties. Children love balloons so much and they are mostly attracted to the vibrant and fun colours. There are an endless array of games and activities you can do with them and here is just a list of five to try out this summer holiday.
Catch a balloon game
This is a great game for little ones especially and will keep them occupied as they run around trying to catch a balloon. For this game, you can use one of the funnels you use in your kitchen as a catching device, or your child can just grab the balloons. This game can be used to teach kids how to identify colours, you can instruct that they should catch only a certain colour of balloons.
Surprise Pop
This is fun and I personally love it. Simply blow up as many balloons as possible and fill them with some nice treats your kids love. This could be chocolates or some other goodies then let the kids pop each balloon to retrieve their surprises. Make it fun by leaving some of the balloons empty and watch the disappointment on the face of whoever picks that particular balloon as they try again. This is also great for party games.
Protect your balloon
This is another fun thing you can do with balloons. This is especially fun but supervision is required. If you have a large group of kids, hand each of them a balloon, have them blow up the balloon and tie it with a long rope-a meter long for instance and also tie the other end of the rope on their ankle. Now, this is where the fun is, they will try to protect their own balloon while trying to pop everyone else’s own. The owner of the last balloon standing is the winner and gets a special gift.
Balloon tennis
This is a beautiful and exciting indoor game to try out. Maybe your child isn’t great with smaller balls and battles to catch them or hit them. This is why balloon tennis is such fun. Clear a large space, free of tripping hazards or breakables then blow up a balloon and play a game of indoor tennis, hitting the balloon back and forth with their hands. This is a very popular thing kids love to do with balloons.
Keep it moving
This is quite simple and requires little effort but fun at the same time. Simply blow up about five balloons for five or more kids and let them continue punching the balloon in the air without letting it touch the ground. Any child whose balloon touches the ground is automatically out of the game. You would need adequate space free from breakables and any other fragile items for this game.
These are just a few fun and exciting things you can try out with balloons, the list goes on and on. Which of these are you going to try out next when you get a pack of balloons?
Important Message!!!
Balloons can be a choking hazard. Popped and deflated balloons are choking hazards, so be careful and supervise your children while playing with them.
