How to celebrate this year’s children’s day has to be one of the things every parent is pondering about now especially as the day is fast approaching. This year’s Children’s day has to be celebrated especially because we were all indoor the previous year no thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic. One of the most special days of the year for every child is children’s day. As a child, I always looked forward to this day because my parents have a way of making something memorable out of it. I remember that year my mum took me to a puppet show. I was marvelled and thrilled, super excited to have seen the puppets talk. Little did I know it wasn’t them talking… Lol.
It’s just a few days to another children’s day now and if your kids are anything like mine, you must have been answering a barrage of questions like mummy where should we go on children’s day? Oh, mummy can we visit Rufus and Bee? Mummy will you buy me this and that. My little son has been requesting a brand new Apple smartwatch as his present, something I found a way to escape from on his birthday lol.
With the ease of the lockdown, most fun places have returned to their normal operation albeit with strict safety measures in place. So if you really want to make up for last year, start planning how to make this year’s children’s day a memorable one for your little energy balls. Here are a few suggestions to help
Amusement parks
Children are always super excited about going to the amusement park, Just say this word and you will watch their eyes light up with joy. Kids will certainly love the idea. A visit to the amusement park will sure make a memorable day for your kids with all the ferris wheel, horse and donkey rides, eating lots of cotton candies and ice cream with bouncing castle. Make children’s day this year fun-filled by taking your kids out to the amusement park. Dreamworld Africana and Omu Resort are some of your best picks if you are in Lagos.
Costume/ Theme party
Another way to have a fun children’s day celebration is by organizing a theme party or a costume party. Children love to play dress-up. They could dress up as one of their favourite superhero characters or have a Barbie princess-themed party. The memory of this will always remain in their hearts.
Movies
You can take the kids out to the cinema to watch fun and exciting movies, possibly animated if they are fond of cartoons. Call some of their friends’ parents and plan out a kid’s movie party or a trip to the cinema. You can as well organize the party at home with your home theatre on and make some popcorn and enjoy the day with your children. Lovely right?
Picnics
Celebrate this special day with your kids with juice, sandwiches, a blanket, and a good old-fashioned picnic at the park. Everybody loves picnics, but children’s day picnics are all about family and spending time with your kids. You can make your children’s favourite food and centre the picnic around them.
Organize an Event in Your Community
After the long lockdown, kids haven’t had the opportunity to socialize much. Hence, an excellent way to celebrate children’s day is by organizing an event in the neighbourhood involving all children, regardless of their status or family background.
A meet-up with extended family members
We all would agree on the thought that kids love spending time with their cousins and family members. So this children’s day, why not host a family meet up with some extended family. This sure would turn out to be a good bonding session with the family with lots of goodies to eat and drink.
Attend children’s day events
