Apart from our parents, the next set of people that have a significant role in our lives are teachers. Teachers have a significant role to play in the life of every child that passes through them. Mostly we do not get to appreciate them enough for their labor and sacrifice. Sometimes last year, during the pandemic and lockdown, I had to take up homeschooling my children. After the first few days, I realized how much work our teachers are doing for our kids. I am sure many parents can relate to this.
I just kept on wondering how they get children of different characters and backgrounds to sit in one class and pass knowledge to all of them. It is a whole lot of work, and it takes a great teacher to ensure every child in the class understands what he/she has taught them.
As we mark world teachers day this month, it is a good time to appreciate that teacher in your child’s life who has done amazing things in igniting the love of learning in them. Here are a few ideas on how to make that teacher feel appreciated.
Write A Thank You Note
Sending a present once in a while is a nice gesture; however, a heartfelt note to show gratitude about how the teacher has impacted your child’s life and ignited a love of learning in your child is a rather sweet way of making a teacher’s day. Imagine this is what she receives from you first thing on a Monday morning with a well-designed card with her name boldly on it.
Cash Gift
Who does not like money? You can also bless them with cash gifts once in a while as much as you have. You never can tell this gesture might be meeting up with a present need at home for them. They are salary earners and would not receive any payment until the end of the month. Cash gifts would show them that you love and support them.
Special Artworks
I have realized that most people love artwork. It is one thing that comes to my mind anytime I think about getting someone a good gift. You can also make unique gift cards with your kids from home and ask them to present them to their teachers in school.
Talk them up
Give them an unexpected call to compliment their work anytime they do something spectacular. Sometimes it could just be about talking about the improvements you have seen or noticed in your child. It makes them feel noticed and encouraged to do even better.
Help them learn, develop, and grow
Giving them ideas on what they can do to be better even at their teaching profession is the best gift you can give them. Simple words of encouragement, spoken or written, can go a long way. This shows them you believe they can do more and are willing to support them to become better. Buy books, invite them to events and even social functions. These make them feel appreciated and happy to build a relationship with you
In my experience, one good way to foster good relationships with educators is by listening to them and showing that you appreciate and see their impacts. You get the very best from anyone you show appreciation to for what they do for you. Teachers are amazing people, and they deserve to be celebrated and appreciated regularly.
